Below is a sample chapter from Turkish Fairy Tales, Stag Prince.

Bir ülkede bir padişah var. Onun bir oğlu ve bir kızı var. Padişah yaşlı ve hasta bir adam. Bu yüzden padişah ölüyor ve onun oğlu padişah oluyor. Ama o iyi bir padişah değil. Onun parası hemen bitiyor, çünkü çok para harcıyor.

Bir gün genç padişah onun kız kardeşi ile konuşuyor. O diyor ki:

— Kız kardeşim, insanlar bizi istemiyorlar, çünkü artık bizim paramız yok. En iyisi buradan gitmek ve başka bir yerde yaşamak.

Kardeşler eşyaları alıyorlar ve gece gidiyorlar. Onlar uzun bir süre yürüyorlar ve sonra çok büyük bir çöle geliyorlar. Çöl çok sıcak ve onlar çok yorgunlar. Prens yerde su görüyor ve diyor ki:

— Kız kardeşim, ben su içmek istiyorum, yoksa ben ölüyorum. Prenses diyor ki:

— Hayır, sevgili kardeşim, sakın içme! Su zehirli gibi. Ben eminim, çok yakında daha iyi su var.

Prens çok su içmek istiyor. O diyor ki:

— Hayır, ben bu suyu içmek istiyorum. Belki su zehirli, ama ben yine de içmek istiyorum.
